System Overview

Medium-Range Wide-Angle Starlight Surveillance

What It Is

The XHM2012C is an ultra low light electro-optical surveillance camera of the Ultra Low Light EO Surveillance Camera class, pairing a 0.8-inch CMOS sensor with a 12 mm F1.0 wide-angle fixed-focus lens to deliver 24/7 full-colour starlight imaging across a 49.6° horizontal field of view at medium surveillance ranges.

Performance

The XHM2012C achieves a minimum effective illumination of 0.0009 lx at 10 fps and 0.0003 lx at 2 fps, with a dynamic range of 72 dB (WDR off) to 120 dB (WDR on). Person-target DRI performance per US NVESD standards against a 1.7 m × 0.5 m human target: 1200 m detection, 300 m recognition, and 180 m identification at day and night. AI video analytics activates at ≥ 68 m with manual zoom extending range by up to three times.

Key Technical Features

  • ONVIF / RTSP / PELCO and HTTP API support enable drop-in integration with enterprise VMS platforms and existing surveillance infrastructure.
  • Wide-angle 49.6° horizontal FOV at F1.0 aperture maximises scene coverage per camera, reducing the number of devices required for area surveillance.
  • Adaptive frame rate from 30/25 fps to 2 fps automatically extends sensitivity as ambient light decreases, maintaining uninterrupted colour imaging through full darkness.
  • Internal storage up to 128 GB and optional WebRTC licensing provide local recording and remote access without dependency on centralised NVR infrastructure.

Platform Compatibility

The XHM2012C is suited for fixed deployment on perimeter fences, building façades, vehicle gates, and urban surveillance poles where a wide field of view at medium range is the primary operational requirement. Its lightweight 0.80 kg form factor also supports integration into compact custom enclosures via the XHM2012M module variant.

Wide-Angle Starlight Colour Imaging

The XHM2012C combines a 0.8-inch CMOS sensor with a 12 mm F1.0 wide-angle lens, providing a 49.6° horizontal field of view under starlight conditions with continuous 24/7 full-colour output. This configuration maximises area coverage per camera without auxiliary illumination.

Medium-Range DRI Performance

Detection, recognition, and identification distances are validated per US NVESD standards against a 1.7 m × 0.5 m human target, achieving 1200 m detection, 300 m recognition, and 180 m identification at day and night. AI video analytics engagement begins at ≥ 68 m.

Simplified Fixed-Focus Deployment

The fixed-focus optical design eliminates focus drift and mechanical focus systems, reducing both installation complexity and long-term maintenance requirements for permanent perimeter and site surveillance deployments.

Adaptive Exposure and WDR Control

Three automatic exposure modes step frame rate from 30/25 fps to 2 fps as illumination decreases, reaching 0.0003 lx minimum effective illumination. Wide Dynamic Range is adjustable from 72 dB to 120 dB, maintaining image quality across high-contrast scenes.
